Type locality: Lake Victoria, Uganda

Diagnosis

Male is similar to A. gratiosa by (a) generally at open habitats; widespread in E and S Africa; (b) antehumeral stripes normally present, or thorax pruinose; (c) Pt in all wings of similar hue; (d) paraprocts longer than cerci, often longer than S10, and slender, tapering to single fine point. However, differs by (1) apex of S10 raised to rod-like process; (2) cerci with blunt apex; (3) paraprocts about 2x as long as S10. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]

Habitat description

Standing and probably often temporary waters, but possibly also large lakes, in open landscapes. Usually with emergent and often aquatic vegetation. From 600 to 1900 m above sea level, but possibly down to 300.

confirmed: Democratic Republic of the Congo; Ethiopia; Kenya; Rwanda; South Sudan; Uganda; NOT confirmed: Djibouti; Malawi; Sudan; Tanzania
