Type locality: Durban, South Africa

Diagnosis

Male is similar to P. camerunensis by (a) at least partly pale labium; (b) broad pale borders of humeral and interpleural sutures separating metallic green areas, rather than enclosed in metallic areas and with at most with pale traces. However, differs by (1) more widespread; (2) entire labrum, postclypeus and genae pale (postclypeus sometimes green); (3) metastigma enclosed in pale brown area; (4) Pt smaller or often absent, spanning at most 3.5 underlying cells, rarely 4. Habitat description

Rivers and streams, but possibly also flowing channels in marshes, shaded by gallery forest, but sometimes also in open areas in forest. Often with emergent vegetation, submerged roots, coarse detritus and/or probably overhanging branches. From 0 to 2300 m above sea level, but mostly below 1400.
